İzmir Kordon Renewal: Pervious Concrete for a Coastal Promenade
3 February 2026
Client
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality
System
Bomanite Pervious Concrete Systems
Location
Kordon, İzmir
Area
2,800 m²
İzmir's iconic Kordon seafront required a comprehensive renewal after a decade of heavy use. The municipality's technical brief carried three critical success criteria: saltwater corrosion resistance, low surface temperature for barefoot comfort on sunny days, and stormwater management capacity.
Bomanite Pervious Concrete was the only system to meet all three criteria simultaneously. Light-toned marine aggregate optimises heat reflection; the high-void matrix absorbs rainfall and prevents pavement flooding; salt-resistant aggregate and a low water-to-cement ratio mix design ensure long service life in a marine environment.
The 2,800 m² installation was added to the municipality's sustainable urban infrastructure portfolio and reported as both an environmentally compliant and LEED-eligible green infrastructure asset.
