Grasscrete is a cast-in-place, monolithic, pervious concrete pavement that is continuously reinforced to provide superior structural integrity. The green alternative to standard concrete surfaces, it provides a variety of landscape solutions — emergency access lanes, delivery routes, overflow parking, and drainage channels that help prevent erosion — while maintaining a sustainable green product design.

Grasscrete has been a Bomanite System for over 20 years with installations in all climate types. Achieved through two differing techniques, it is void-structured concrete that can be cast using proven mix designs with no potential for freeze-thaw or clogging issues.

Grassroof is a practical, accessible green roof system designed for both new construction and existing buildings. Working with Regarm — a recycled moisture-retaining blanket — it feeds plant roots and reduces the volume and rate of water draining from rooftops into drainage networks.

In Extensive applications, Regarm enables a reduction in the depth of soil layers beneath sedum turf, thereby reducing the imposed structural load on the roof — making Grassroof particularly easy and economical to install on existing buildings.

Grassroad is the original plastic honeycomb cell paver developed in the USA in the early 1980s, with Grass Concrete Limited holding the exclusive European licence. Lightweight interlocking units made from recycled polypropylene form a tensile paving layer when combined with established grass — delivering up to 95% visible grass surface cover.

Unlike Grasscrete's cast concrete, Grassroad is a prefabricated plastic system designed for infrequent traffic applications. Installation is fast and simple, the lo-build structure minimises sub-base depth, and the result is an exceptionally high proportion of visible green cover.

Why Grasscrete?

Natural Drainage

Grasscrete drains at about the same rate as an ordinary lawn in the same location. The concrete has little effect on drainage; the soil and slope are the controlling factors, making it beneficial for erosion control.

On-Site Recycling

Installed over a gravel sub-base at a depth determined by load-bearing requirements. On-site recycled fill materials can be used in the sub-bases — surplus from excavation work avoids unnecessary off-site waste disposal.

Native Soil Compatible

Grasscrete can be installed over native soils, saving money on excavation and gravel. The subsurface adapts from thick stone beds to water piping systems depending on water runoff requirements.

Structural Efficiency

Sub-base depths are reduced and curb edge restraints can often be eliminated. Forms can be delivered by the truckload to cover 7,200 m² — the equivalent of fifty truckloads of pre-cast.

SUDS Compliance

Sustainable Urban Drainage is an increasingly used standard for managing surface water run-off. Grasscrete provides more uniform percolation, creating a more natural balance and reducing shrinkage risk in clay soils.
