The Changi Business Park expansion presented JTC Corporation with an unusual challenge: select 5,200 m² of external paving that could handle tropical rainfall intensities, reduce heat island effect, and deliver LEED Platinum credits simultaneously.
Bomanite Pervious Concrete Systems create a high-void concrete matrix capable of absorbing rainfall at up to 750 mm per hour. In Singapore's intense tropical downpours, this eliminates standing water on pedestrian surfaces entirely. It also reduces surface temperatures by up to 8°C compared to conventional concrete — a measurable comfort improvement for campus occupants.
The project has completed two wet seasons without incident since handover and was listed by Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority as a reference application for permeable paving in commercial developments.
